Xiong Guoping is a member of the Urban and Rural Planning Committee of Urban Planning Society of China, and he once worked as the (guest) deputy director of the Kunming Planning Bureau and a visiting scholar of the University of Pennsylvania.
He has led more than 100 planning and design projects, which have won the first prize of the Ministry of Construction, one national silver prize, two provincial first prizes, one provincial second prize and six provincial third prizes. In terms of overall planning, he has led the projects for the surrounding area of Wenyuhe Park in Beijing, Yuhuatai District of Nanjing, Banqiao New City of Nanjing, Linping New City of Hangzhou, southern mountain area of Jinan, Baisha group of Zhengdong New Area, isolated green space in downtown Shijiazhuang, southwestern Wuzhong District of Suzhou, urban-rural integrated demonstration area of Kaifeng, Sanmenxia City, Yaxi International Slow City, Jiangyin City, Kunshan City and Qidong City, etc.; in terms of detailed planning, he has led the projects for Suzhou Ancient City, Donghuan Road of Suzhou, Jianshe Avenue of Shijiazhuang, Eehuan Road of Shijiazhuang and Zhongshan Road of Shijiazhuang, etc.
In recent years, he has led one NSFC funded program, one topic of a national science and technology support program during the 12th Five-year Plan Period, one program supported by the special scientific research fund for doctoral discipline in colleges and universities, one topic of a science and technology program of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development and a program under the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Support Program; he has published 8 Chinese and English monographs, 1 translated works, and more than 40 papers on core journals at home and abroad.
