Dr. Shi is LEED A.P., P.E. Associate Dean, School of Architecture, Southeast University, and Associate Editor-in-chief, Frontiers of Architectural Research. Dr. Shi is the associate editor-in-chief of Frontiers of Architectural Research and the editorial board member of Journal of Building Physics. He serves on several technical committees including the Green Building Evaluation committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China.
Dr. Shi received his Bachelor degree from Tongji University, Shanghai, China in 1998. He then studied at the Pennsylvania State University in the US and received his Ph.D. degree in 2005. While at the Penn State, Dr. Shi worked on several research projects including ASHRAE RP1091 and NSF research projects. He won the Glunt Fellowship in residential construction in 2003.
From 2005 to 2008, Dr. Shi worked at Walter P Moore in Houston as a consulting engineer. He practiced building science and architectural engineering on many projects. His clients include ExxonMobil, Texas Medical Center, University of Texas, AIG, etc. He won ExxonMobil Corner Stone Award in 2007 for his excellent consulting service.
In early 2008, Dr. Shi joined the Faculty of Architecture at Southeast University. His research interests include building performance and design optimization, building energy efficiency, green buildings, and urban physics. He teaches 4 courses on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Shi is the leader and main researcher of several large-scale research projects, funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Ministry of Science of Technology of China, the Ministry of Education of China, etc. He has published more than 70 papers on journals and conferences. These journals include Energy, Building and Environment, Automation in Construction, Journal of Building Physics, Landscape and Urban Planning, ASCE Journal of Architectural Engineering, ASTM International, etc. Dr. Shi has extensive design and consulting experiences. One of his recent works is leading the project of green building design and technology integration of National Cultural Center in Beijing, China.
